A one-hour session with S. Derek Johnson-Gage, Esq. during which he will help provide insight on the law with respect to psychiatric hospitalizations in Georgia, potential strategies to expedite the process, and practical considerations of involuntary hospitalization with respect to the patient and his or her mental health challenges, including how the family can support her moving forward to avoid future emergency commitments. Before booking, it is important to know the purposes and limitations of this consultation. While the statutory constructs for psychiatric hospitalization are voluminous, they are also archaic and convoluted. Furthermore, while there are statutory mechanisms of which a patient may avail himself, the procedural structure for these tools is often scarce and, in some cases, non-existent.
